Who Are You Living For?

`If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God.  And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit.

Either way, Christ’s love controls us.  Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have died to our old life.

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves.  Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

2 Corinthians 13-15 (NLT)

I’ve often tried to tell someone about Christ, and His love for them, only to be told, “Oh, I’m a Christian, already”.  When clearly their life does not back up their words.

I like the way that Ray Comfort puts it in the film “180”, (heartchanger.com) He says, “Christ is like a parachute.  Turning to the parachute will not save you, putting it on will!

Unless we “put on” Christ, taking on His attributes as we become closer and closer to Him, looking more and more like Him, through getting to know Him better, and through letting the Holy Spirit do a changing work in our lives, we are merely “turning to Christ”

There’s a huge difference between “turning to Him” and “putting Him on”.

Paul says in this letter to Corinthians that as Christians, we should no longer live for ourselves.  He doesn’t mince words, he doesn’t beat around the bush, he flat out tells us what our lives ought to look like when we are in Christ.

So, have you totally died to self?  Fully “put on” Christ?  Are you totally sold out for the One Who paid the Ultimate Price for you?  If so, praise God, if not, why not do so right now!  After all, that’s what you were created for!
