What a Price – What Value

And do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, Whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

For you were bought at a price, therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which is God’s.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

I love the way Paul puts this.

As humans we often see that when we borrow something from a friend, we normally take extra special care not to mess it up, especially when we know how much it’s valued by its owner.

The more it’s valued by its owner, the greater care we should take of it.

What a price God paid for us!!!!  What a value He places on each of us!!!

This body, soul, and spirit now belongs to God, so we should strive in every way to keep it at its best – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

When we see it this way, it’s our obligation, out of love, that should then govern ALL that we hear, read, see, do, practice, eat, and are part of.

Amen! If we had more teaching and preaching from our pulpits on this, many problems could be alleviated in the church. We must remember that we are saved FROM sin and must apply His truth to every area of our lives. He wants us to grow closer, deeper, and more holy every day in our walk with Him. We can only be cleansed by the blood of Christ and His Word. What the world has to offer will never satisfy.

I really like your thought Beth that when we borrow something we take special care of it. How important it is as we live on borrowed time that we present our bodies holy before Him. I believe there is a verse in the Bible that speaks about anything is permissable, but everything is not beneficial. I need this reminder as I plan each meal, that my body will glorify Him because of what I plan to put into it.
